Wearable* LED High Fashion
*And by wearable, I mean one would actually want to wear them!
Art/music blogger Afro Monk found some sick fashion design incorporating LED lights. Let’s go.
Here are the Video Dresses, designed by Hussein Chalayan and engineered by Moritz Waldemeyer. Each dress is embedded with 15,000 LED lights. They appear to be constructed simply with white fabric, but they are capable of projecting video. Below you’ll see a blooming rose and swimming sharks. (Dibs on the shark frock.)
Waldemeyer also teamed up with Creative Recreation to produce these awesome-looking sneakers studded with LED lights. A modern take on the LA Lights of my childhood, I want these on my feet. Now. I wonder if the LEDs are powered by the kinetic energy generated by walking? That would probably not be hard to do, since LED lights don’t require a whole lotta wattage to shine. How awesome would I look speedwalking in these?
